Challenging daily puzzle

Joining the New York Times website’s list of mini-games like Wordle, Spelling Bee, and The Mini, Digits is another fun puzzle that offers something new every day. True to its name, this title quizzes its users with numbers instead of the letters of the alphabet this time. Each day, there are five new puzzles to solve; currently, it’s available in beta mode.

Mix and match numbers with mathematical operations

Every day, the web app will give players five new number puzzles to solve. There will be a given digit, a set of different values, and the basic operations — addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The player then has to obtain the given digit using the values and the operations. Once a puzzle is solved, the user can move on to the next and reveal the solution for the previous one.

Each number puzzle on Digits has up to three stars you can earn, and these will be attained as you work through the operations necessary. However, if you’re irretrievably stuck and would concede by revealing the solution, you won’t be able to get all three stars. In the same vein, the puzzles can get super challenging and tiresome to work on. Fortunately, there’s an undo button you can use infinitely.

Fun albeit very challenging

Overall, Digits is a fun puzzle game to try. It’s currently playable in its beta version, but so far the levels are tricky to solve. There are various ways to obtain the given values, but players will certainly have to do a lot of combinations of the mathematical operations and even undo moves from time to time. Each day comes with a set of five fresh puzzles, too.

PROS

  • With new puzzles every day
  • Can use the undo feature for an unlimited number of times
  • Has a star system

CONS

  • Puzzles can get really tedious to solve
